The mortar between brick had literally turned to dust meaning only the old render held it together

Nothing behind the render and had collapsed about four foot down as well

New timbers added felted and battened, Brickwork to the side re-built and rendered then slated in  

Look at the lean on that compared to the scaffold uprights which are level

This has to be the trickiest and scariest chimney I’ve ever taken down the mid feathers and one side of the chimney had collapsed and was dangerously leaning in towards the roof with only the render holding it together (just about) it certainly got the adrenaline pumping and I’ve never been so relieved to get a chimney down as it could of collapsed at any time
